Hilltop and Mpila Camp Overnight Safari from Durban

Stay in two camps inside Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park: unfenced Mpila Camp and fenced Hilltop Camp.

Hilltop and Mpila Camp Safari from Durban — 3 Days, 2 Nights

For a safari with a stronger sense of adventure, explore Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park on a three day, two night trip that combines stays at Mpila Camp and Hilltop Camp. This itinerary lets you experience two different camp environments while enjoying multiple opportunities for wildlife viewing.

Depart Durban and travel north into KwaZulu-Natal’s wildlife country. After entering the reserve, enjoy a game drive before spending your first night at Mpila Camp. Mpila is an “unfenced camp”, meaning wild animals may pass through the camp area. Only elephant are restricted from entering camp via a fence wire especially designed to keep them out. Guests must follow camp rules and their guide’s safety instructions, especially after dark.

On the second day, we continue towards Hilltop Camp, with further opportunities to look for wildlife along the way. Hilltop offers a different camp setting, with facilities including a restaurant and swimming pool. Enjoy dinner before settling in for the evening.

The final day includes a morning game drive followed by a boat cruise on the St Lucia estuary in iSimangaliso Wetland Park. Watch for hippos, crocodiles and birdlife before travelling back to Durban.
