Two night Big 5 Safari from Durban
Experience the African bush at a slower pace on a three day, two night Big 5 safari from Durban to Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park. With multiple game drives, accommodation inside the reserve and a St Lucia estuary cruise, this safari offers more opportunities to explore KwaZulu-Natal’s wildlife than a single day excursion.
Your adventure begins with collection from your Durban hotel or guesthouse before travelling north to Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park. After arriving, enjoy an afternoon game drive before settling into Hilltop Camp for dinner and your first night in the reserve.
Spend the second day exploring the park on morning and afternoon game drives. Your guide will search for lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos and buffalo, while sharing local knowledge about the landscape and wildlife. You will also have an opportunity to visit the Centenary Centre and learn about the reserve’s conservation history.
On the final morning, enjoy another game drive before travelling to St Lucia for a boat cruise on the estuary. Look for hippos, crocodiles and birdlife before returning to Durban.
Your itinerary
Day 1: Durban to the park
Depart Durban at 7 am. An optional stop at the Emdoneni Cat Rehabilitation Centre costs R420 per person. Afternoon game drive in Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park, then dinner at Hilltop Camp.
Day 2: Full day in the park
Morning game drive, a visit to the Centenary Centre and the story of Operation Rhino, then an afternoon game drive. Dinner at Hilltop Camp.
Day 3: St Lucia and home
Morning game drive and a St Lucia estuary boat cruise, then the drive back to Durban.
You stay in Hilltop Camp chalets. This safari is also available as 2 days and 1 night, or longer, on request. An open-vehicle drive of 3 hours can be added for R500 per person.
